Captains' Meeting Notes

The first Captains' Meeting of the '97 Summer Season was held at 6:30 pm at PJ's on Sunday May 4. The teams represented include Jumbo Gumbo Bunnies, Maximum Tonnage, Purely Accidental, and Racin' Darts. The Executive Board Members present were Andy Mead, Sam Lamson, Rich Little, and Paula Brown. The discussion was centered on, but not limited to, the League financial situation.

Finances: The Board has taken steps to stop the negative spending and predicts the debt will be cleared up by the end of the 1998 Spring Season. Some questions raised include:

Q: Is a budget in place for this season?

A: Yes. Estimated funds for the party and trophies is $250.00

Q: What is being done about the overdraft charges?

A: Sam Lamson has reimbursed the league $50.00 from his own pocket and he is also trying to contact Sumana Basu about the two checks she wrote for membership dues which bounced.

Q: Will a temporary dues increase be recommended?

A: Not at this time.

Q: How about changing some awards from trophies to patches or pins?

A: Not without some warning to the membership; it may be an issue for the seasonal survey.

Some fund raising schemes in the works are the sale of drink cozies with a new BCDL logo and new colors, a weekly Luck of the Draw with some type of Mystery Draw, and raffles to be held at the LOD's and end of season parties.
