Executive Board Meeting Notes
April 15, 1997
By Paula Brown, BCDL Secretary
The first Board Meeting of the newly elected officials and the 1997 Summer Season took place as scheduled Tuesday April 15th with all members in attendance. Of course the priority issue was the breakdown of the league for match play. Several other items were discussed and voted on or not and tabled for the next meeting.
New Board Gets Down to Business
Summer Season: With the summer season broken down to five teams in A, B, & C, and four teams in D divisions, inter-divisional play was recommended. The matches will not count toward division positioning. However, perfect throws, low games, high outs and All-Star points will be recorded. The D division will be a triple round robin and have a position week where the team ranked #1 will play #4 and #2 will play #3. The play-offs will consist of the top two teams from each division with the division winners being ranked #1-4 by points followed by the remaining teams also ranked according to points accumulated.
Meetings: The first Captains' Meeting of the Summer season will be Sunday May 4th at Ray's. Time will be announced as soon as we know. The Executive Board will meet prior to the Captains' Meeting, time and date TBA.
Proxy Voting: The issue is how many votes can a captain cast for other teams? Also, how to make sure those votes are authentic? This subject was tabled and will be discussed at the Captains' Meeting on May 4th.
Housekeeping: The league has paid for the Spring season party and the Editor/Stat Man has also been paid. A question as to the quality of the hardware was raised and tabled until the next meeting.
Executive Board Meeting Notes
April 27, 1997
By Paula Brown, BCDL Secretary
The Executive Board met Sunday April 27th at PJ's to discuss items which were tabled from the last meeting as well as the very serious issue of finances. All Board members were in attendance with the exception of Eric Paradis.
League Deficit Discussed
Proxy Votes: A motion was made to allow proxy captain's votes on an issue by issue basis provided they are in writing, signed, and dated. Yes 5 No 0 Abstention 1
This will be presented to the captains for ratification May 4th 6:30.
Finances: The BCDL is currently carrying over a deficit of approximately $630 from season to season. The debt was first incurred during the 1996 Summer season. More information will be provided at the captains' meeting on Sunday. Fund raising ideas are in the works and any suggestions are welcomed.
Trophies: Anita and Patrick have several unclaimed awards from previous seasons and they will try to contact the owners. Patrick will look into finding a quality trophy shop with competitive pricing.
Match Play: Frank Lin's team played an out of division match last week with 2 unpaid shooters not on his roster. Because it was a match which "doesn't count" a debate on penalties to be levied occurred. If it had been a divisional match Frank's team would have forfeited all points won by those 2 players. It was decided to practice this rule even though it will have no impact on the division standings.
